Every True Revolution Begins At Home

There’s no denying this week has been a heavy one, to say the least. Violence fills our headlines. Hatred spills into our streets. We scroll through tragedy upon tragedy, on what seems to be a daily basis. Squeezing our loved ones a little tighter and wondering how we can protect them from such a broken world.

As a mom it’s absolutely gut-wrenching. What world am I raising my children in? How do I explain this to them? How do I keep them safe? It’s overwhelming. It’s heart breaking. It’s infuriating.

As a believer in Jesus it’s clarifying. Although the world around us is unsteady and shaking our hope in Jesus Christ, and His word, is not. He is our firm foundation, steady as a rock.
Why do I say it’s clarifying? It strips away our illusion of having control. It brings us back to the reality of what truly matters. We weren’t called to just exist, attend church, and raise “good kids”. We’re called to be a light in the darkness. To raise children who know who they are in Christ. Who won’t be swayed by culture, but who stand firm in the truth of God’s unwavering love and transforming power.

While we can’t control the world around us — the systems, the laws, the media. We can control what happens inside the walls of our homes. And that, that is where the true revolution and revival begins.

It looks like parents choosing to be present over being distracted. It looks like praying together before school. It looks like opening our Bibles and leading our children in devotion with Jesus. It looks like dinner table conversations about your day and life. It looks like living the same in your home, as you do outside of your home. It’s in the small moments when we show our children what love really looks like. It’s in the messy moments where we show what grace looks and sounds like. And in the hard times where we model what it really means to follow Jesus. It’s not loud or flashy, but it is powerful.

Right now our world needs more than our reaction, it needs a true resurrection and revival. And that begins in our hearts. When our hearts experience true resurrection, it naturally pours into our children. Children who are watching how we live, how we speak, and how we love. Children who are learning to be anchored in the truth of God’s word. Bold in their faith and bursting with the love of Jesus. Children who don’t just survive this culture, but stand firm and unshaken within it. And children who reflect Jesus beyond the walls of their church.

I’m not saying it’s easy. Parenting in this day and age takes courage, determination, and grace. We aren’t in this by ourselves. And we aren’t powerless. In every moment, we make a choice to lead our children to Jesus. We do this when we pray over them. When we open the Bible with them. When we love them fiercely but guide them gently. We are planting seeds of unshakable faith.

Let’s be mamas (and dads) who lead the way with purpose. Choosing to be present and intentional with our families each day. Who are raising kingdom minded, world changers. Children shining bright in a world that needs their light now more than ever.

The heaviness I have felt this last week, and maybe even you are feeling, isn’t meant to push us into hopelessness. It’s God inviting us to step up in faith. To pray, to love, to lead, to shine light where there’s darkness. To be a voice for our generation, inviting them into full surrender to Jesus.

Now is the time. Not to shrink back in fear, but to rise up in faith. To raise children who are rooted, courageous, and burning with the light of Jesus. As the world around us gets darker the brighter His light shines through us. Let’s lead well, love deeply, and believe that revival begins right here. In our homes, in our families, and in our hearts.

Stay strong, stay fierce.
